
Legacy Builders Freedom School
As an initiative of the Legacy League of Black Women, the Legacy Builders Freedom School reflects our commitment to intergenerational leadership, education as liberation, and the belief that when young people know their history, they are better prepared to build a just and thriving future.


The Legacy Builders Freedom School is a free educational program deeply rooted in cultural heritage, designed to nurture, educate, and empower students in grades 6–12 through the study of Black history, culture, and literacy.
Inspired by the Freedom Schools of the Civil Rights Movement, the Legacy Builders Freedom School the important tradition of community-based education led by Black women—educators,, and custodians of collective knowledge. Our program creates welcoming space where young people are celebrated for who they are, connected to their roots, equipped to shape their futures.
